Public Outreach
An Effective Public Outreach Program
A forced acquisition can be an emotional and even traumatic event in someone’s life. We realize it is extremely important to address the issues and concerns of the residents and businesses in a fair, sensitive, comprehensive, and organized manner. The outreach program we have crafted will clearly communicate the process to the community.
Our team is conducting workshops and one-on-one meetings with affected property owners very early in the process to explain land acquisition and relocation and how it will impact each of them. We present the information tools that can be used to stay abreast of the latest developments.
We have a centralized “information center” located on 3837 West 20th street at the former Penn Brass building, where residents and businesses can obtain vital information regarding the status of their acquisition. Having a place where the community can go to obtain up-to-date information about the acquisition program and the construction project is critical in making the project a success.
The information center is staffed as needed, where maps, design information, visitor response forms, and project update literature are made available to the public. The staff is able to answer questions and pass on the most up-to-date information about the project.
Through the use of our web-based LandTrack GIS application, our team will develop a comprehensive prioritized sequence of acquisitions that will also become part of our community outreach program.
We also periodically publish a newsletter, which is made available on this web site to provide the most current available public information. Finally, we maintain this website to allow the public to view public information regarding the status of the program.
