ERAA RUNWAY 6-24 IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

PROJECT UPDATE

 

The Erie Regional Airport Authority (ERAA) continues to make significant progress with the Runway 6-24 Improvement Program at the Erie International Airport, Tom Ridge Field, (ERI). Currently, the Land Acquisition process within Zone 1 and Zone 2 is progressing on schedule. As of September 1, 2008, demolition of eight (8) residential properties began as negotiations for the relocation of commercial properties within Zone 1 continued.

 
By the end of September 2008, property owners will see the completion of the demolition of all Zone 1 acquired single family units. Currently, offers are being made for Zone 2 single family residential property owners.
 
September 2008 – Demolition of vacant residential properties to be completed. Negotiation for the acquisition of commercial properties continues.
 
October 2008 - Signing of purchase agreement for first commercial acquisition anticipated.

2007 – 08 Local funding for Improvement Project
FAA funding for Partial acquisition of Zone 1 to include all residences and business properties.
 
Local share funding committed and additional state share funding being pursued.
August
2008
Zone 1 – Two occupants remain on acquired properties; relocations scheduled for completion by 8/30/08. Negotiations continue for the acquisition of businesses.
 
Zone 2 – The appraisal process continues for Zone 2 properties, including overall appraisals of mobile home parks as well as individual mobile homes.
September
2008
All residential occupants relocated as of 9/1/08. Demolition of Zone 1 residential properties concluded on 9/18/08.
 
Zone 1 – Negotiations have been concluded for the acquisition of one (1) business. Acquisition negotiations continue for the three (3) remaining businesses.
 
Zone 2 – Appraisals of Powell Avenue Estates, Riviera Estates and individual mobile homes within Powell Estates have been completed. The appraisal process for individuals units within Riviera Estates to begin around 9/15/08
